A foreign national was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder and five years for arson.
The man set his girlfriend alight in December 2016 in their rental house in Strubenvale.
Capt Johannes Ramphora says the man left her for dead and ran away from Springs to live in Johannesburg.

The Ekurhuleni East Trio Task Team detectives traced the suspect and arrested him in August.
The sentence was handed down on Monday at the Springs Magistrates Court.
