July 7 and 11

• Join Palm Springs for a morning of fun and games at their carnival morning. There is no charge and the carnival takes place from 10am to noon in front of Jimmy’s Fish court. Carolynn Weedon on 082 443 3213.

• Auditions for a singing competition at Mimi’s Pub and Grill at the Sharon Park Shopping Centre on Nigel Road. R25 000 in prizes to be won. Contact Ilana Jooste on 062 431 8760.

• The mobile library will be at The Avenues and learners are encouraged to join in and enjoy learning to read. Students who are studying teaching will be on hand to encourage and promote the wonderful world of reading in the shop next to checkout from 10am to noon. There is no cost. August 31 to September 1

• Springs Fonteine Fees 2018 at Dr Johan Jurgens Sports grounds. Enjoy a fun weekend with us, Dewald Wasserfall and the “Flooze”. Stalls available. Contact Katrien Prinsloo on 083 437 1039.

July 8

• Three-koppie group hike of up to 10km through the Melville Koppies. Sets off 8.30am sharp. Park, meet and pay in the upper car park at Marks Park, Judith Road, Emmarentia, opposite the entrance. All donations used to maintain the Koppies. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. No dogs. Contact Wendy Carstens on 011 482 4797.

If you are all about straight-up, no feelings spared, raw comedy from the mouth of a man who tells it as it is, Mashabela Galane is your man. Performing at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena, Mashabela is ready to rock the worlds of couples and singletons alike.

 

August 9
Women take center stage at an inspired high tea and motivational talk at Carnival City in celebration of Women’s Day this year. Dynamic speaker and founder of the Jes Foord Foundation, Jes Foord, will talk about the power of women while guests indulge in a spread of sumptuous treats.

August 12

• Join Hospice East Rand for Great Balls of Fire, the tale of Jerry Lee Lewis starring Jonathan Roxmouth. The bus leaves hospice’s offices at 218 Kemston Avenue, Western Extension, Benoni at 1pm and the show, which is being staged at Montecasino, starts at 3pm. First Wednesday of the month

• Join the Boksburg Hiking club for a meeting at the Atlas Bowling Club, corner of Denel North and Atlas Road, Bonaero Park. Braai fires will be ready from 5.30pm for a bring and braai. Meeting will begin at 7pm. You will also be able to find out about and book upcoming hikes. Contact Emily Delport on 082 456 4946.
