Workers from a local business have started cleaning up the Palm Springs fountain which is at corner Ninth Avenue and Second Street.

The fountain has been looking bushy since February when the metro last cleaned i,t and the water pump at the fountain hasn’t been working for a couple of years.

A worker at the business, Ernie van Vollenhoven says, “We took it upon ourselves to clean the place up as it is next to our business and our brand is of a high standard.

“We need to look out for our environment and also for the people in the area.

“We also want to get the fountain pumping so we have been speaking to the metro to give us authorisation as we don’t have the keys to access the inside of the fountain’s fencing so that we can fix the water pump.”

Van Vollenhoven says even if the metro doesn’t respond, they will still fix the pump because they cannot associate their brand to a dirty environment.
