Approximately 20 suspects stormed the security offices at Gold One mine and attacked security officers and disarmed them on Wednesday evening.
The suspects then took three firearms from the officers and forced the crane driver to crush the wall of a smelter room and tried to force the the safe open without success.
Gold concetrate weighing 70kg and worth R25-million was taken from the mine.

The police responded to the robbery as it was in progress and the suspects fired shots at them.
Several employees of the mine were tied up with cables ties and assaulted during the robbery.
The suspects fled before police entered the premises.
No suspects have been arrested yet.
Cameras were also damaged during the robbery.
