Tekkie Tax Day well celebrated
Petro Maree, principal and owner of Rainbow Education Centre says, “We are supporting Tekkie Tax Day and Child Welfare because we believe strongly in creating a happy environment and Child Welfare helps in keeping children happy.
The Springs/Kwa-Thema Child Welfare celebrated Tekkie Tax Day in different places with different organisations.
Sanet van Moerkerken, social worker and Springs/KwaThema Child Welfare programmes manager says, “Tekkie Tax is a fund-raising venture that started in 2013.
“It was started by the lady who started the casual day programme.
“We buy all the merchandise and sell them.
“The proceedings go towards keeping the organisation vibrant.”

“We also believe in the give back system, so Tekkie Tax Day is a programme where we will be giving back.”
Margaret Mashiyane, social worker at the Far East Rand Hospital says, “I’m supporting Tekkie Tax Day because I know that we don’t have resources as social workers.
“Child Welfare is one of the organisations that we work with in making sure that all the children have a right to live and they have everything that they need as children.”

Cherie Woest, the owner of Winnie The Pooh crèche and Junior College, says, “We support the Child Welfare because there is a lot of children that need assistance because they are thrown away or just left aside for other people to worry about, so we feel that it’s our duty as the community to take care of them.”
Moerkeken says they need volunteers at the Child Welfare, anyone with a skill in computers or legal staff.
“We need people on our board; there are only four people on our board and we need more.”
