Man loses bakkie and trailer after hijacking on N12

The value of the bakkie and trailer is R170 000. The value of the other stolen items is unknown.

A man and his passengers paid the price for their untimely comfort break just after 8pm last Tuesday when they were hijacked on the N12 between the Daveyton and Etwatwa off-ramps.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the men had stopped on the side of the road to relieve themselves when they were approached by five men armed with firearms.

The suspects demanded money and cellphones from the victims and fired a few shots to scare them.

All 11 people’s cellphones, money and other items were stolen.

The suspects then got into the bakkie, with the trailer attached, and drove off.

The value of the bakkie and trailer is R170 000. The value of the other stolen items is unknown.

There were no injuries reported.
