A man was burnt in the Everest informal settlement after his girlfriend poured paraffin all over him, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.
The victim says he left his girlfriend at home while he went drinking.
When he came back to the house, he was very drunk and went to bed.

Seeing him, the girlfriend poured paraffin all over the bed and him and set him alight.
She then left him to die.
Fortunately the victim’s neighbour came to his rescue and called an ambulance for him.

The victim, who has just been released from hospital since the incident in May, has opened a case and police are now searching for the girlfriend.
