Resident alleges the homeless have moved into Park Hotel

Hill wants answers from the metro about why the owner has not come to repair the building.

Resident Mike Hill is complaining that the abandoned Park Hotel in Selection Park is an eyesore for the community.

Hill says, “The Park Hotel in Selection Park, Springs, has been there ever since I can remember.

“It has been abandoned for a few years now and has become a major eyesore in the town.

“The hotel has broken windows and it’s falling apart.

It looks like homeless people have moved in the back.”

Hill wants answers from the metro about why the owner has not come to repair the building.

Hill thinks that the building could be used for shops and benefit the community.

In 2015, a resident had a similar complaint about the Park Hotel.

Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says the hotel is situated on land that is zoned as business two.

In terms of business two zoning, shops are a primary focus right now and can be conducted without any further land use application.

The metro failed to respond at the time of publication.
