Learners from Veritas Senior School won the National High Schools quiz on September 19 at Sandton Varsity College campus.
Two-hundred schools from all over the country competed in this prestigious contest.
After sailing through the quarter-finals and semi-finals, it came down to eight teams to battle it out for the trophy.

Who was their tutor/mentor? Under the tutelage of head of geography Patson Ngidi, four eager learners, Remo Ventura, Atang Makgata, Kyra Stock and Catia Breedt, came out on top.
Contenders were quizzed on topics ranging from politics to entertainment and current affairs.
To prepare for the quiz, the learners had to keep up to date with local and international news through reading newspapers.

One of the contenders from Veritas, Atang Makgata, says: “I think we can be very happy and proud of what we have accomplished, and I think it is a testament to the fact that hard work always pays off.”
Another learner, Remo Ventura says: “We are the South African champions and I think that’s pretty cool.”
