Breast cancer talk at Senior Citizen Centre

One in 27 females contract breast cancer in their lifetime.

Dr Ashesh Ranchod gave a serious and informative talk at the senior citizen centre on Saturday.

The one hour lecture concerned the alarming increase of breast cancer, and the subsequent rise in the likelihood of contracting the disease as well as dispelling some of the myths surrounding it.

Ranchod encouraged women to go for regular mammograms and pap smears.

He also gave instructions on self examination and emphasised the importance early diagnosis.

One of the myths that Ranchod dispelled was that men cannot contract breast cancer.

Although the cases among men is significantly lower than women, he emphasised that men should also go for regular checkups.
