People use the park to drink and party and then just leave their litter around while the metro hardly cleans the park, says residents.

One resident Paul Joubert says: “Because there are no toilet facilities at the park and all the littering that is taking place, this park will soon become a health hazard and a rubbish dump.

“This is really unacceptable.”

Residents feel that the discarded beer bottles pose a danger to children who want to play in the park.

It is alleged that users of the park empty the contents of the portable toilets on the yards of apartment complexes nearby.

There is also evidence of fires being made on the grass of the park.

Wood from the benches have also been stolen and removed.

Another resident Johan Nel says: “We can’t use this park anymore.

“What is the use of having a park like this if people just abuse it?”
