A shop assistant was shot dead when an unknown man approached the shop in Payneville and opened fire last Tuesday.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the assistant and the shop owner were in the shop when an unknown man approached them and just started shooting at them through the burglar bars.

According to paramedics, the shop assistant was hit several times and died on the scene.
He sustained eight bullet wounds on his upper body, front and back.
Motive for the killing is unknown.
