A security guard was found dead after he was stabbed in Dersley last Thursday evening.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the complainant was in the guardhouse with another security guard when they saw a car approaching the guardhouse from the main road.
The complainant walked in the direction of the vehicle to investigate, while the other guard stayed behind.

On his way to the vehicle, the vehicle’s lights were switched off and three suspects approached him.
When he asked them why they were there, the suspects said they wanted to work there.
While the complainant was responding, a fourth suspect appeared from behind with a beer bottle in his hand and reached for his side, whereby the complainant ran away and jumped over the wall to a nearby house to raise the alarm.
The occupants of the house informed the church watchman and when he arrived at the gate, the complainant jumped back over the wall to open the gate for him.

The church watchman pressed the panic button for a private security company.
When the security company arrived on the scene, they all went to the other buildings on the premises and found a broken wooden door.
They walked around the main building, where they found the second guard dead on his back on the ground with three stab wounds to the left side of his body.
