New support head for Kwa-Thema SAPS

Meet the latest addition to the Kwa-Thema police station team.

Kwa-Thema Police Station welcomes Colonel Anna Sikhosana as the newly appointed Support Head.

She is no rookie in the South African Police Service, having served as a constable, for the first time, in 1989.

Over the thirty years that followed, she worked her way up the ranks at different police stations.

Before this appointment, she was the head of the Information Management Centre at the Springs Police Station.

Born and raised in Kwa-Thema, Sikhosana says she has always prioritized her commitment to the SAPS and serving the community.

“Even though I am from this community, I have to treat all residents equally regardless of my personal relationships with them.”

“It is unfortunate now, that we are in the middle of a crisis (Covid 19), I have observed that our community is not adhering to the regulations as they should.

Col Anna Sikhosana hit the ground running as the new Support Head at Kwa-Thema Police Station.

“The regulations are not optional.”

The mother of two also made a plea to the community to co-operate with the police.

“When you call the police, don’t lose hope in the process.”

She admits that some cases take longer to crack, but with the technological improvements that are being made, more suspects are linked to crimes over time.

“Sometimes, while the investigators are questioning you, as a victim, you may feel overwhelmed.

“It is important to answer all their questions as accurately as you can.”

She also encourages residents to report any suspicious events.

“There are many cases that were solved using information from passers-by, and people who just called to report suspicious behaviours.”

Sikhosana says she is excited to be joining ‘a good team.’

“I have come to learn, and to offer my experience.

“And I hope to work well with the community.”
