Skeletal remains found in Nuffield

The remains had no identifiable features.

Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says a 49-year-old recycler was looking for cans in the field to recycle when he discovered the skeletal remains of a human being, approximately 50m from the road just after midday on June 3.

He reported it to officers in a passing Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department vehicle.

The body was lying on its back with the head turned to the left and right arm across the chest.

The gender, age or race of the skeleton could not be determined.

No obvious wounds could be seen to determine a possible cause of death.
