Residents in Eastvale are experiencing power outages every evening after 6pm, with some outages lasting the whole night.
Other residents have been even more unfortunate and have been forced to be without electricity for as long as a week.
According to ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin, these kinds of outages are unacceptable, especially during the winter months.

”It seems like the municipality does not have qualified personnel to fix the problem permanently.
“The other problem is lack of maintenance, and on top of this we have load-shedding,” he said.
Reporting the power outages is also problematic, as calls to the Ekurhuleni Call Centre go unanswered.

“When they do answer, it takes over 45 minutes to be forwarded to someone who has answers,” added Sheodin.
