Restoration of the historic Park Hotel in Selection Park is underway again.
The building, which has suffered many years of neglect and vandalism, is a cause of great concern to residents who believe the building is an eyesore and decreases property values in the area.
The derelict property has also attracted vagrants and other unsavoury characters.

Restoration efforts started at the beginning of the year and much progress was made.
The outer walls have been re-plastered, and the rooms and the bar have been repaired.
In an effort to curb vandalism and to prevent the building from becoming a haven for vagrants, the property has also received security upgrades, including a gate and burglar bars.

Efforts to restore the building to its former glory were halted during hard lockdown, but resumed at the beginning of June.
Ward councillor Shadow Shabangu is satisfied with the progress that has been made.
The owner of the hotel was unavailable for comment.
