Woman hit with car after road rage altercation

Tsakani – Tsakani Police Station commander Col Johannes Maass has appealed to motorists to be patient with one another following a road rage incident in Extension 19 on Sunday.

Officers were patrolling the area when they were forced to intervene in an altercation between the occupants of a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a grey BMW.

The incident, which took place at the corner of Madiba and Sphelele streets, involved the driver and four passengers of the Tiguan and the driver of the BMW.

According to Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, the fight broke out after both drivers believed they had right of way at the stop street.

“Both vehicles blocked the road, which caused traffic problems.

“Members of the police had to intervene and stop the fight, while other members directed traffic.”

During the commotion, the driver of the BMW struck one of the occupants of the Tiguan with his vehicle.

The man then fled the scene.

A hit-and-run case has been registered at the Tsakani Police Station and police are searching for the man, whose identity is known.
