New transformer for fire-damaged substation

Meanwhile, preparatory work continues on site with technicians removing the burnt cables in preparation for the new cables to be connected to the new transformer.

 

The City of Ekurhuleni has concluded and approved the process for procurement of a 45MVA transformer for the JVA substation.
This follows a fire at the substation two weeks ago which left many residents and businesses without power.

Last Tuesday, the municipality confirmed they were finalising the logistics of collecting the transformer from Eskom premises in Witbank.
