Veteran officer hangs up his boots

Shasha joined the police in April 1986 and initially served the community of Daveyton.

Capt David Shasha has retired after 34 years of service in the SAPS.
His fellow officers described him as a loyal police officer who left a mark on all of them.

Due to his discipline and commitment, he rose through the ranks and was later promoted as captain and transferred to Springs.
“As a foot soldier he never dropped his baton, but carried on and lifted the flag of the SAPS by serving the community of Springs, especially as a sector manager.
“His main purpose was to reduce crime in the precinct of Springs and to make sure all criminals were dealt with according to the law,” said local police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

Speaking at Shasha’s retirement function, Springs SAPS station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded Shasha for his commitment, loyalty and contribution in fighting crime.
She said other police officers could learn a lesson or two from Shasha by refraining from criminal activity and corruption, and being loyal.
