Community helps devastated family

Community comes together to help family devastated by fire

A house fire in Slovo Park on Tuesday left a family desperate for help.
The Slovo park CPF, however, came together to assist the family with clothes, groceries and other supplies to help them get back on their feet.
According to Vusi Mazibuko, chairperson of the Sector 4 CPF, a message was sent out on a WhatsApp group on Tuesday, and many members of the community came together to help the family.

Neighbours attempted to douse the flames with a hose pipe before emergency services arrived.
“I am so proud of how the community came together to help this family.
“It’s a good sign of things to come, and it shows that we are cultivating a culture of ubuntu in this community,” said Mazibuko.

Homeowner Johannes Ndala received donated items from Vusi Mazibuko courtesy of the Slovo Park community.

Various members of the community, as well as NPOs, donated clothes and food to the family.
“We are here to donate clothing to the family to show them we are standing with them,” said Mapule Kekana from one of the NPOs.
