Strubenvale sewage problems persist

According to Stone, 58 streetlights are left on during the day.

Strubenvale residents are becoming increasingly frustrated with the sewage problems that have plagued the area for four years.
According to ward councillor Dean Stone, sewage leaks out of a manhole and floods the road, making driving hazardous.
In addition, a large field on the side of the road becomes completely submerged in sewage, causing a foul stench.

The grass in the field has not been cut in a long time, further complicating the situation.
“I have spoken to the metro many, many times but they refuse to meet with me.
“Every time I speak with them, they tell me the problem has been fixed, which is clearly not true,” said Stone.
Stone suspects a fault in the sewage line that runs through the area is responsible for similar problems reported in Strubenvale Extension and Grootvlei.

Residents have also been complaining about streetlights that remain on during the day.
According to Stone, 58 streetlights are left on during the day.
He said he receives complaints about these issues on a daily basis.
