Police operation against illegal mining a success

Six illegal miners were arrested as a result of the operation.

The police with their partners for the day confiscated all the equipment they found.

The Springs police with their reservist members, the Springs CPF and AfriForum Springs conducted an illegal-mining operation on Tuesday morning from 6am until midday in Daggafontein.
Illegal mining remains a problem in Springs with illegal miners using explosives at all hours of the day.

The equipment found with the illegal miners were booked into evidence at the Springs Police Station.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the operation was a success and six illegal miners were arrested.
In addition to the arrest, police also confiscated five picks, 13 spades, one water pump and six buckets.
