Pastors Grieve carry on long-standing family tradition

Transitioning to the new church wasn’t difficult for the pair as it was the same type of church.

Pastors Sarah-Jane and Barrett Grieve have merged the Word Christian Church with Hope Hill Church after Sarah-Jane’s parents retired at Word Christian Church.
The duo, who founded Hope Hill Church, have been at the Wit Road church a little over five weeks.
Transitioning to the new church wasn’t difficult for the pair as it was the same type of church.

“People know my husband and I really well because we’re family and know everyone from both churches. The merger has just been such a sweet thing,” said Sarah-Jane.
“The people are our people as well, so bringing the two churches together have resulted in no hiccoughs.

Pastors Sarah-Jane and Barrett Grieve are looking forward to working with the community from their new premises on Wit Road.

“You anticipate there’s going to be some issues, but people have just got on and it has been wonderful.
“There’s such a wonderful, sweet atmosphere in the church.
“We continue with the same Hope Hill atmosphere and flavour because my husband and I are leading the church,” said Sarah-Jane.

The pair is focused on reaching out to the community and have partnered with Blackie Swarts to host the Springs Family Fair.
Their first event was two weeks ago at their Wit Road premises and was a hit with the community.
“It was a purely community-based event to bring the town of Springs together, specifically focusing on the family. Going forward, our goal is to provide more activities for children.”
They plan on holding the fair every last Saturday of the month.
