Epilepsy South Africa is on a drive to raise funds to assist in its psychosocial support programmes.
“Tekkie Tax is a fund-raising campaign that was started in 2013,” said Valentine Muradzikwa, PRO for Epilepsy SA in Geduld.
“Some of the most prolific national welfare organisations in SA joined forces to establish a powerful national fund-raising campaign called National Tekkie Tax Day.
“Since its inception in 2013, the campaign has raised nearly R48-million. During the same time, Tekkie Tax generated sponsored publicity of close to R100-m.”
The project has historically been supported by thousands of individuals, companies, SMMEs, NGOs and schools.

“Due to their continued participation, Tekkie Tax has become a significant fund-raising campaign in South Africa.”
National Tekkie Tax Day will take place on August 6.
Epilepsy South Africa has outreach programmes with a beneficiary base of 9 350.
“The product brochure for Tekkie Tax for this year has an amazing assortment of products, including campaign stickers for R10 each, shoelaces for R10, tattoos for R10, badges for R10, T-shirts for adults R100 and T-shirts for children R80.
“All the funds raised go to the worthy cause of assisting people with epilepsy and/or other disabilities,” he added.
