Police open a case of attempted murder after girl shot in Everest

The child’s mother told police she was home, when her daughter came in crying, bleeding from her right foot.

A three-year-old girl was shot in the foot in Everest informal settlement last Friday afternoon.
The child’s mother told police she was home when her daughter came in crying, bleeding from her right foot.
When the mother asked what had happened, the child told her people were fighting in the street and she got hurt.

The child’s mother confirmed the child’s story with other people in the area, and they told her the child had been hit by a stray bullet.
The child was taken to Far East Rand Hospital, where it was confirmed the child had been shot in the foot.
No suspects have been arrested and police have opened a case of attempted murder.
