Rude awakening for Bakerton family

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the homeowner told the police he was sleeping in his Lavender Road home when he was awakened by intruders.

A Bakerton man was left with minor injuries after a house robbery in the early hours of last Sunday morning.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the homeowner told the police he was sleeping in his Lavender Road home when he was awakened by the sound of someone banging at the door.
He got out of bed and found his son was also awake.

When his son approached the front door, he saw two men.
The intruders accosted the son, who tried to defend himself but was injured in the process. He ran to his father’s bedroom and locked the door where he called a neighbour for help.
The robbers took a TV and clothing valued at R22 000, before fleeing on foot.
An ambulance was later called to the scene to treat the injured man.
