Jaco Swanepoel and his wife are frustrated with the lack of maintenance in the municipal housing area in Paul Krugersoord.
For more than three months their toilet has been out of order, forcing them to walk to another stand to use its facilities.
“We have to walk hundreds of metres in the dark and cold at night. It is very dangerous and we can easily get hurt or catch a cold,” said Jaco.

The lights in the streets of the complex have not worked for years, making it dangerous to walk at night.
In addition, water pours outside their house whenever they use the shower or wash the dishes due to faulty pipes.
Jaco and his wife have taken their complaints to the housing department but are yet to receive any answers.
“Every time we call, they tell us they will send someone. It has been months and no one has come to help us,” he said.
