Kruger has been a resident of Ekurhuleni for the past 10 years and works in the financial and accounts department of a local company.
He is involved in the FF Plus’ youth branches and is particularly concerned about the municipal housing units for senior citizens that are not being maintained properly.
“Many street lights remain on throughout the day, but when night falls, large parts of Springs are shrouded in darkness.
“Due to a lack of expertise, available funds are often spent ineffectively. Furthermore, the infrastructure grants that municipalities receive from the national fiscus are generally underspent.
“As a result, infrastructure is not maintained properly and eventually decays.
“The rule that at least 8% of the book value of property, equipment and plant must be spent on maintenance is not adhered to.”
On November 1, residents have the opportunity to stand up against the ANC and vote for proper service delivery.
Ward councillor candidates were invited to submit photographs and write-ups. Some candidates had not submitted information as requested.
