Margaret Smith

There is a lack of dedicated and competent municipal officials.

Margaret Smith, Freedom Front Plus, Ward 75
Smith chairs the FF Plus youth branch in Brakpan. She has been residing in Ekurhuleni for 10 years and is also a member of her local neighbourhood watch and AfriForum.
She is frequently affected by the water and electricity problems plaguing Springs and is concerned about how officials handle residents’ complaints lodged with the Metro Council’s customer care centre.
“There is a lack of dedicated and competent municipal officials.
“Affirmative action appointments have resulted in low morale, a lack of dedication and incompetence. In addition, there is a large number of vacant positions because the prescribed affirmative action applications were not received.
“Municipal trade unions have also gained too much power and can consequently make unreasonable demands and organise strikes regularly.
“The municipal workers’ frequent strikes only contribute to the poor level of service delivery.”
Support Margaret in the upcoming local government elections in taking a stand against the ANC. Vote for the FF Plus and against affirmative action to ensure a better future for the youth.
Ward councillor candidates were invited to submit photographs and write-ups. Some candidates had not submitted information as requested.
