Road floods after theft of water meters

According to resident Dave van der Westhuizen, thieves stole the water meters on Wednesday evening.

Stolen water meters have caused a large part of Fourth Street in Vischkuil to flood.
According to resident Dave van der Westhuizen, thieves stole the water meters on Wednesday evening.
Five water meters in total are missing, including the one outside van der Westhuizen’s house.
“We woke up and saw the entire road was flooded. I’m just glad it’s not flowing into my yard,” said van der Westhuizen.
He told the Advertiser he has called the municipality numerous times but was unable to get any help.

Water has flooded a large part of Fourth Street.

“They keep on telling us their trucks have broken down and can’t help us,” he said.
Van der Westhuizen is very unhappy with the lack of service he is receiving from the municipality.

“How can they allow this to go on for two days now? They are wasting a precious amount of water for nothing.
“All they need to do is come and switch off the water to stop the waste,” he said.
