Certificate ceremony held at Gold One Mining

“We diversified the type of skills we offered. The intention is to identify passionate young people in relevant skills and take them to a route of entrepreneurial courses.”

New Kleinfontein Goldmine Human Resources Development Committee held a ceremony on January 28 during which skills certificates were awarded to students.
Gold One Mining charter coordinator Loselo Segwe said they started the programme in 2020 after identifying unemployed youth in the area.
“We diversified the type of skills we offered. The intention is to identify passionate young people in relevant skills and take them to a route of entrepreneurial courses,” said Segwe.

He said they provided them with skills to earn an income.
“We are not going to limit them when it comes to entrepreneurial skills. We are aware that not all of us are made to be entrepreneurs, others will route into the artisanal field. This will say they are qualified to do the job anywhere,” he said.
They are looking into streams, which are artisanal training and entrepreneurial aptitude individuals who want to become entrepreneurs.

“On average, the programmes take up to three weeks and others take up to a month. We don’t limit whoever wants to join the programmes. We are giving opportunities to any individual who is committed to the programme,” he said.
Segwe said they have already selected another group that will be joining their skills programme next month.
“To apply, we have set community leaders in the wards where they identify needy unemployed people who when we engage them, are willing to learn. Selection criteria is entirely dependent on community leaders,” said Segwe.
