Fourth Avenue undriveable

Fourth Avenue is riddled with deep potholes and is almost undriveable in certain stretches.

Vischkuil residents are at their wits’ ends with the lack of service delivery, especially when it comes to the state of the road in Fourth Avenue.
The avenue is riddled with deep potholes and is almost undrivable in certain stretches.
“We cannot drive here. If you don’t have a bakkie or a 4×4, you will destroy your suspension and tires,” said resident Vernon Wentzel.
Wentzel has had to reinforce his driveway just to access it without damaging his vehicle.
Brenda Sithole, who runs a preschool in the area, fears for the safety of her children.

Due to the state of the road, busses and taxis have to park some distance from the school and the children have to walk the remaining distance to school.
“This is interrupting their education and it is unacceptable,” said Sithole.
In addition, residents suffer frequent incidents of load-shedding and low water pressure and their grass is not being trimmed.
Resident George Kustner explained he can’t shower or bathe due to the low water pressure.
According to residents, most roads in Vischkuil have been either tarred or paved, except for Fourth Avenue, and they want to know why this is the case.
Comment from the Lesedi Local Municipality will be published as soon as it has been received.
