WEB HEADLINE: Machknitz knitting marathon a success Local NPO Machknitz hosted its unprecedented 12-hour knitting marathon on Saturday. A total of 120 to 150 knitters showed up to knit blankets, which were then donated to charity. The event was streamed live on Facebook as other knitters joined in from the comfort of their own homes.

Carolyne Steyn from HOT 1027FM checked in on the proceedings and was very impressed with what she saw.

“It was an amazing day and everyone left with a smile. We had random giveaways to keep everyone excited.
“Now, we are counting all the blankets and adding the final touches like borders,” said Machknitz member Estelle Stols.
Machknitz will host another event on Saturday at Carpe Diem.
