Bogus cops make off with R46 000

The victims were travelling in a Hyundai H-100 were pulled over by the occupants of a white Volkswagen Jetta with blue lights and a siren.

Two men were robbed while driving from Leandra to Springs on Friday morning.
The victims, who were travelling in a Hyundai H-100, were pulled over by the occupants of a white Volkswagen Jetta with blue lights and a siren.
“The driver stopped and one of the men in the Jetta came out and demanded his driver’s licence.
“Two other armed suspects approached the vehicle. The victims were then handcuffed,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.

One of the suspects then pushed the driver to the middle of the seat and drove the Hyundai into a mealie field.
“The victims were ordered to lie down and the men demanded money. One shot was fired and the victims, out of fear, told the robbers where the money was.”
The thugs made off with R46 000 in cash and three cellphones.
The robbers threw the Hyundai keys into the field, which the victims later found.
