Offenders nabbed during Operation Okae Molao

Law enforcement clamps down on crime.

Springs SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies, led by Ekurhuleni district commissioner Maj-Gen Anna Sithole, held an effective Operation Okae Molao in Springs on April 7.
Roadblocks were set up at different locations across the city.
According to Sithole, illegal mining and murders are particular crimes of concern in Springs.

Officers were on the look-out for any illegal goods.

“As a provincial team, we are here to be visible in the area. We arrested 50 illegal immigrants,” she said.
She said traffic police impounded 11 taxis in relation to permit compliance and three vehicles were confiscated.
“In regards to illegal mining, we confiscated a lot of shovels.
“The drug squads managed to arrest five suspects for possession of drugs.”

One of the roadblocks was set up along Springs West Road.
