Pothole-riddled road a nightmare for Aston Lake residents

Road poses a danger as drivers are forced to dodge potholes and trenches.

Aston Lake resident Angelique Brits claimed she has been reporting the poor condition of Soetdoring Drive for almost 20 years.
Riddled with potholes and trenches, the road causes vehicle damage and is often unsuitable for driving on.
“We struggle to drive in this area every day. The cars are destroyed and tyres become our worst nightmare,” said Brits.
She said the wet weather makes the situation worse and some people in the area are unable to travel to work because of the dangerous conditions.

Potholes and trenches make it difficult to drive on the road safely.

“The road has been here for many years and not once have I seen those responsible come to assist or fix it. Cars break constantly on this road, and it is becoming worse by the day,” said Brits.
She said they reached out to the Lesedi Local Municipality for help.
“The municipality said they are unable to assist because they do not have the budget. No one has come to give us a proper response on how this can be fixed. I have lived here for many years and there is no sign of help,” she said.
Comment requested from the Lesedi Local Municipality will be published once it has been received.
