Street shower for the homeless
Redeem Life invites the homeless to spend the day getting spoiled and loved
Redeem Life will host another street shower in Springs on May 7.
“The street shower is for the homeless and destitute. It is for those living on the streets of Springs. They are invited to spend the day getting spoiled and loved,” explained founder Winifred du Preez.
Beneficiaries receive showers and haircuts.
“They receive new clothes and shoes, from there they will be ministered to. We also help them draw up their CVs. The last station will be where they sit down to be served food,” she added.

Du Preez said the inspiration behind the street shower comes from the Bible( Luke 14:16-24).
“The entire idea serves as a banquet that we prepare for them to show the love of God. We hope the day’s events will help to restore their dignity with love in their lives.
“We are asking the community of Springs to get involved,” she said.
The organisation is in need of blankets, socks and jeans (size 28 to 34) for men.
“The renting of the showers and toilets is a big cost for the day,” said du Preez.
This event will take place at Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck.
“All we do is for the glory of God, as He makes it possible to help those in need.”
The organisation’s ultimate goal is to create a homeless shelter in Springs.
