Describe your childhood?
I grew up in Kwa-Thema. As difficult as it was, having a supportive mother and relatives made my upbringing a very joyful one. I cherished every moment.

I attended high school at Springs Secondary School doing commerce subjects. I later discovered my passion for Information Technology and studied it at Ekurhuleni Springs College.
How did you become a volunteer at Impumelelo?
I was doing my 67 minutes on Mandela Day. I later discovered that I could actually do more than 67 minutes. I decided to volunteer since they needed an administrator.
What are your duties?
I perform the daily duties of bookkeeping, sourcing out and getting sponsors, maintaining a good relationship with existing sponsors, coordinating and managing appointments, and answering and responding to emails.

Are there any challenges you have encountered over the years?
It has been challenging times due to the pandemic. But at the end of the day seeing the overall duties through, and seeing people happy and fulfilled with work being done makes me happy.
Anything that you would like to see improved at Impumelelo?
Yes, more visits from our community members and anyone willing to seek knowledge on disabilities so that we can end the stigma of treating differently-abled people with embarrassment. Also getting volunteers to come through and help maintain the place to be home. And most importantly getting sponsors.
Have there been challenges since you started at Impumelelo?
Yes, there’s been and some still reoccur. Resolving some issues requires the help of experts, and with God’s grace, we have been getting help from the community members, local businesses, and our councillor Thulane Simelane.
What are your hopes and dreams?
Sharing knowledge of how we can better improve our livelihood and empower the youth at large through small businesses and skills development workshops.
