Little Achievers raise funds for Marno

Little Achievers Preschool raised R4 800 to help Marno Muller

Little Achievers Preschool, in Selection Park, raised R4 800 to help Marno Muller as he recovers in hospital.
“I just had a brainwave on Wednesday morning. I just knew that we had to do something for this boy,” explained Chevon Pitout, the school’s deputy principal.
Marno had been in critical condition after he was found unconscious on the slide at his Brakpan preschool on May 26.
The five-year-old Springs boy was hanging by his hoodie after it became trapped at the top of the slide.
“As a parent, I can only imagine what his family is going through. But the incident has also put a spotlight on our schools and how we monitor the children,” added Pitout.
She sold ribbons at R5 each to each child.

“The parents were so supportive. Considering that it was such short notice,” she said.
Pitout also received donations from Spar, St Andrews Office Supplies, Cheryl’s, Scotty’s Pub and Bistro, Elegance Embroidery, Luxor Paint and Potgieter Carpets and Blinds.
All the school’s learners participated in creating a ‘get well soon’ banner for Marno and they offered a prayer for him last Friday.
“We managed to collect R4 800, which was deposited to the family on Saturday morning,” she said.
Pitout also delivered that banner and a teddy bear to Netcare Garden City Hospital for Marno on Sunday.
“Soon after we dropped off the banner we learned he had woken up and that was just amazing,” she added.
Pitout said she will continue to accept donations for the family – as long as they need the assistance.
“He is awake, but there is still some way to go before he has fully recovered,” she added.
