Getting to know Leandro Felix

I grew up with different kinds of animals which inspired a deep love and respect for them.

Leandro Felix is passionate about animals and hopes to use his personal experience in dealing with animals.
• What can you tell us about yourself? Where are you from and what was it like growing up?
I’m from Springs and work for the Springs SPCA because of my love for animals. Growing up I had a lot of challenges, which I overcame with the support of my family.
I always surrounded myself with animals, which helped me grow my knowledge and spark an interest in working with animals.
• Where did you attend school?
John Vorster High School in Nigel.
• How did your love for animals come about?
I grew up with different kinds of animals, which inspired a deep love and respect for them.
• How has your experience with SPCA been?
My experience has been educational and I’ve learnt a lot of new things about the medical care of animals and their needs.
• How did you join the SPCA and what is your position?
I joined the SPCA in March last year as a volunteer and a few months after I was offered a job as a kennel hand.

• How are you finding the work so far?
I find the SPCA joyful as I learn something new every day. I would like to reach my goal of becoming an inspector and further help animals in need.
• What has been your most significant achievement?
Working for the SPCA has always been part of my dream of taking care of animals.
• What are your hopes and dreams?
To become an inspiration through what I do.
• From here onwards what are you looking forward to?
To grow along with the SPCA, reaching my max potential in my job and making sure all animals get a loving home.
• Who do you look up to and why?
People who I look up to in general have a good attitude towards life and treat animals with love and respect because it shows a lot about their character and personality.
• Do you own any pets?
Yes, a Labrador.
