Nursing students graduate
The institute obtained a 100% pass rate and 10 students bagged distinctions.
Hard work and determination has paid off for the 2022 class of the Esda Nursing Education Institution who graduated with flying colours.
The institution obtained a 100% pass rate with two students obtaining distinctions in theory, seven in clinical practica and one in both theory and clinical practica.
The students were honoured at a graduation ceremony held last month at the Esda hall.
“This is a dream come true and it is a very special moment not only for you, our graduates, but also for our school,” said Yolanda Els, principal of Esda Nursing Education Institution.

She explained the last five years have been difficult and full of challenges as all nursing schools had to upgrade to higher education. They also had to apply for re-accreditation.
“It was a very lengthy process and in August 2020 we were part of five other nursing schools who received accreditation to start the Higher Certificate in Nursing in South Africa,” she said.
Students conducted their clinical practica at the Heidelberg Hospital, Ekurhuleni community centres and the Rus ‘n Bietjie Home for the elderly.

“You’ve accomplished so much. Your graduation proves all of your hard work and determination. We are thrilled to share this special moment with you. It was not always easy,” Els told the students.
“There were some long nights, anxious moments, lockdown periods, many tears and lots of laughter but you’ve learned to keep going no matter what.
“Aristotle, a great philosopher, once said ‘The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet’. Today you are enjoying the sweet fruit of your labour.
“You have made yourself, our school and your family very proud today.”
