Load shedding causes water supply interruptions

Some areas in Springs may be affected by a drop in water pressure or no water at all.

Customers are notified of water supply interruptions caused by the ongoing load-shedding.
Areas affected in Springs include Selcourt Estate and Selcourt Enclosure.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni, the current situation has resulted in intermittent operation of water pump stations causing reduced, and in some cases, depleted water levels.

Residents in high-lying areas are mostly affected as their water pressure is reliant on water towers that are filled through pumping from reservoirs using electricity.
Water pump stations are equipped with emergency power generators that cease to operate in case of a prolonged outage.
Water towers that have pump stations without emergency generators experience quicker depletion of water, resulting in dropped pressure and ultimately no water.
