Ekurhuleni District honours long serving police members
Long service of men and woman in uniform acknowledged.
The Ekurhuleni District medal parade, held on September 7, recognised the bravery, dedication and skill of SAPS members.

It was the first time since the pandemic that the medal parade, which took place at Laerskool Jan Van Riebeeck, was held.
SAPS district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole said the district decided to have the event as a way to acknowledge members of the SAPS who have been in service for 10, 20 and 30 years.
“Today we acknowledge members of the SAPS who have been faithful to their service and have conducted themselves in an honourable manner. We want our communities to know that there are still good policemen and women,” she said.

Springs SAPS Captain Ntombizodwa Khumalo, who received a 30-year citation, said she is ecstatic and grateful to have been serving her community for so long.
“Having served my community with integrity and perseverance is a milestone. I just want to remind SAPS officials who desire to be acknowledged that respect goes a long way and they must honour the uniform,” said Khumalo.

Sithole encourages SAPS officials to look upon those who received citations and to follow in their footsteps.
“They must always offer service to the public in a manner that they are supposed to. They must stay committed to their work and serve the public rightfully so. Detectives must investigate cases thoroughly. Leave no stone unturned,” she said.
Sithole urges officials to timeously read and remind themselves of the code of conduct.
