Emma’s Springs fever trips held in commemoration of bowler

Emma’s Springs Fever Trip was named after Emma Ragusa who was a top member at Springs Town Bowling Club.

Springs bowlers, together with other East Rand bowling clubs, gathered for their third of the five-week fever trips competitions on October 19 at Springs Town Bowling Club.

The annual competition, which was known as the Springs Fever Trips, is now called Emma’s Springs Fever Trip.

“We have changed the name to commemorate our long-time bowler, Emma Ragusa, who sadly passed away in July,” said club member Tokkie Hattingh.

“Her husband Dominic is our sponsor for the trips.”

The fever trips are held every Wednesday annually for five weeks between September and October.

In the competition, Tokkie Hattingh took first place, followed by Charles Peters in second place and Basie Knoetze placing third.

“This year’s trips were well supported,” said Hattingh.

She is thankful to the Springs Town Bowling Club, Benoni Lake Club, Modderbee Bowling Club, Northmead Bowling Club, Nigel Bowling Club, and Boksburg Bowling Club for participating and for their continuous support.
