e’Kota Festival promises a new taste experience

e'Kota Festival will celebrate and showcase a variety of unique kota meals on Saturday at Zig Zag Cafe.

Local kota vendors will have the opportunity to showcase their kota-making talents at the e’Kota Festival on November 12 at Zig Zag Café.

The event hosted by Thetacoff Events aims to bring local kota businesses together by selling and promoting themselves to the community.

The kota meal can be classified as stuffed quarter bread filled with extras like ham, egg, cheese, lettuce or burger patties on top of the standard chips, atchar and vienna.

Siphiwe Mabena, team leader at Thetacoff Events, said the kota festival also aims to celebrate the nation’s prideful meal and African culture.

“We’re going to celebrate the kota culture because the business isn’t celebrated enough,” said Siphiwe.

“We will only be focusing on a specific food menu, which is a kota meal. In doing that, we will also be scouting for a business that has been provided by our sponsor to see how we can collaborate for a complete presentation.”

The event’s goal is to promote food, drinks, music, and the arts in the community. Taking place on Saturday, the festival will showcase almost 35 vendors who will be feeding the festival-goers.

“The event is free for everyone. Families with children are also welcome,” said Siphiwe.

Stall applications are still available. For more information, contact Siphiwe on 079 299 3073 or Mongezi Mabena on 076 403 2633.
