Springs SAPS to launch 16 Days of Activism campaign
Springs SAPS station commander Brigadier Thembeka Gwebushe invites the community as they launch the 16 Days of Activism campaign on November 26.

Springs SAPS will be launching its 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign on Saturday at the Daggafontein community sports ground.
The launch is in preparation for 16 Days of Activism, which takes place from November 25 to December 10.
With the campaign, Springs SAPS seeks to raise awareness of domestic violence to ensure that victims of domestic violence do not suffer in silence but should rather come to reach out for help against their abuser.
“The objective of this event is to invite different state departments, community and role players who will unite with us against crime through sports activities,” said Springs police spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.
“We’re inviting the community to join us as we tackle GBV issues. As the Springs SAPS, we’re saying the justice system is working. We just need our community to persevere and allow justice to take its cause.
“Our police and the Department of Justice are convicting perpetrators and bringing criminals to book.”
On the launch day, the SAPS will engage with the community through a briefing and will hand out pamphlets.
“The community, with all its different role players, will form teams and play different sports, such as soccer and netball.”
During the 16 Days of Activism, the Springs SAPS have scheduled sports activities that include soccer, netball and other sports.
“We are still looking for teams within the Springs and surrounding areas to make up teams that will be playing during the campaign,” said Tshabalala.
“It is crucial for all the role players or a delegate to be present on November 26 as we officially begin the campaign at Pam Brink Sports Ground.”
