Far East Rand Hospital welcomes new clinical manager
Dr Sweetness Moloko Maphobela has joined the FERH team.
Far East Rand Hospital (FERH) is excited about the appointment of its new clinical manager, Dr Sweetness Moloko Maphobela.
Maphobela, who commenced her duties at the hospital on November 1, said she is very excited and is looking forward to working with the staff at the hospital.
She started her career as an independent medical officer in 2017 at Philadelphia Hospital in Dennilton, Limpopo.
In 2019, she was introduced to a managerial position where she was overseeing family medicine, the out-patients department and the emergency unit and was later appointed as a senior clinical manager during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her duties as the clinical manager are to provide strategic leadership to the medical services, clinical support, and therapeutic services and ensure that quality assurance, including clinical audit, is conducted in the department in line with the ideal hospital framework and health care norms and standards.
“Among other tasks my duties include serving as a senior member of the hospital’s executive management team and actively contributing to the formulation and implementation of hospital operational plans, protocols, and standard operating procedures,” said Maphobela.
As a clinical manager at FERH and an advocate for patients, Maphobela wants to help manage overcrowding, and patient overflow and improve patient care and safety, complaints resolving and managing them within a stipulated time.
“I want to focus on minimising litigations and creating a culture of redress at the point of contact and maintain clinical governance in the institution,” she said.
In her spare time, she likes to travel, go river rafting, do horseback riding, bake and read.
