The Hub lights up children’s home for Christmas
"The reasoning behind our type of sponsorship is purely to give back hope to these kids."
The Hub Springs was able to assist the Chance Children’s Home in Dunnottar on November 18 with some solar lights as part of a company-wide charity drive initiative.
“Now I can hear those voices out saying but why solar lights? We all know that load-shedding plays a major role in our daily lives and we in some form or another, can compensate for the darkness in our lives as we have the resources for this,” said The Hub Springs manager Thomas Bezuidenhout.
He said on a recent visit to determine how they can give back, he noticed that the older group of children were struggling to study at night. The idea came to lend a helping hand in order to bring some light to study time.
“The lights not only help the big children but also the little ones because as we all know how frightening the dark can be,” said Bezuidenhout.
He said the children need more than they gave but their resources are limited.
“I pose a challenge to our community and to businesses out there, go out there and help. Times are tough, but there are those that are not scraping through on their bellies but are stuck and need a helping hand. Help them to have a Merry Christmas,” he said.
