Metro raises awareness about cholera

Three cholera cases have been confirmed in the city.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s health practitioners are criss-crossing the city educating communities about cholera prevention, treatment, and care.

As part of the campaign, on March 10 a team visited the Germiston Clinic to explain cholera, its side effects, symptoms and how can it be prevented.

Patients visiting the facility got to learn about the importance of hygiene, especially when handling and storing water.

One of the attendees Lerato Moloi, who was pleased with the information shared, said: “I am so glad to have acquired such useful information, especially since we have heard that there are cases of cholera in Ekurhuleni.

“It is very scary that one can easily ignore the seriousness of cholera and just assume I have a minor tummy bug. You can get seriously ill and even lose life in the process.”
